Read a sample in Japaneseそれはたいそう大きな蝙蝠傘でした。幹子は、この頃田舎の方から新しくこちらの学校へ入ってきた新入生でした。髪の形も着物も、東京の少女に較べると、かなり田舎染みて見えました。けれど、幹子はそんな事を少しも気にかけないで、学科の勉強とか運動とか、つまり、少女のすべきことだけをやってのけると言った質の少女でした。たとえば青い空に葉をさしのべ、太陽の方へ向いてぐんぐん育ってゆく若木のようにのんびりした少女でした。それにしても、幹子が毎日学校へ持ってくる蝙蝠傘は非常に大きなもので、忽ち学校中の評判になりました。どこの級にも、頓智があってたいへん口が軽く、気の利いたことを言っては皆を笑わせることの好きな愚な生徒が一人や二人はあるものです。幹子の級にも、時子と朝子という口のわるい生徒がありました。ある日、幹子は学校へゆく途中で、この口のわるい連中に出会いました。
