Read a sample in Japanese一匹のねずみが、おとしにかかりました。夜中ごろ天井から降りて、勝手もとへ食べ物をあさりにいく途中、戸だなのそばに置かれた、おとしにかかったのです。空腹のねずみは、あぶらげの香ばしいにおいをかいで、我慢がしきれなかったものでした。ねずみは、そのせまい金網の中で、夜じゅう出口をさがしながら、あばれていました。夜が明けると、ねまきを着た、この家の主人が、奥からあらわれました。「大きいねずみだな。こいつだ、このあいだから、そこらをガリガリかじったのは。」主人は、しばらく立って見ていました。「どうしてくれようか。」ものぐさな主人は、自分の手で殺さずに、ねこに捕らえさせることを考えました。それで、ねずみの入ったおとしを下げて、外へ出ました。寒い朝で、路の上は白く乾いていました。前側の商店の小僧さんが、往来をはいていました。「大きいやつが、かかりましたね。」と、ほうきを持つ手を休めて、ながめていました。
