夜が　ながく　なりました。おかあさんは　おしごとを　なさって　います。その　そばで、きょうだいは　火ばちに　あたりながら、くりを　たべて　いました。「リンリン　リンって、なんの　音だろう。」ふいに、正ちゃんは　あたまを　あげました。「ねずみが　おかってへ　でて、なべに　さわったのでしょう。」と、おかあさんは　おっしゃいました。「武ちゃんが　三りん車に　のって　いるのよ。」と、つね子さんが　いいました。「いまじぶん、だれが　あそんで　いるものか。」しばらく　すると、また、「リンリン　リン。」と、いう　音が、かすかに　きこえました。「ほら。」「ほんとうだわ。」おかあさんと　三人が　とを　あけて、そとを　ながめました。こがらしが　ふいて、すみわたった　いい　月夜でした。かどの　たばこやの　まえに　ちょうちんの　火が　みえて、人力車が　みちを　きいて　いる　ようすです。
