千住せんじゅか熊谷くまがいかのことであるが、其処しょに某ぼう尼寺あまでらがあって、その住職じゅうしょくの尼僧にそうと親したしい壮たけしい男おとこが何時いつも寺てらへ遊あそびに来きていたが、それがふっつりと来こなくなった。尼僧にそうはそれを心配しんぱいして、何なん人にんかその辺あたりの者ものが来きたならその容子ようすを聞きいてみようと思おもっていると、ある日ひその男おとこがひょっこりやって来きた。「どうしたかと思おもって、心配しんぱいしてたのですよ」「少すこし病気びょうきでしてね」「もう好よいのですか」「ああ、もう癒りました」壮たけしい男おとこはその後ごで、「今日きょうは一ひとつお願ねがいがあって来きましたよ」と云ゆった。「なんですか」「法衣ほういを貸かしてくれませんか」「貸かしてあげましょうが、それをどうするのです」「少すこし入用にゅうようです」で、尼僧にそうは奥おくから一いち枚まいの法衣ほういを持もって来きて、壮たけしい男おとこの前まえに置おいた。壮たけしい男おとこは嬉うれしそうにそれを持もって帰かえって往った。そして、暫しばらくして、何なにかの用事ようじで尼僧にそうが寺てらの玄関げんかんへ往ってみると、壮たけしい男おとこに貸かしたはずの法衣ほういが置おいてあった。
