Read a sample in Japanese私は去年あたりから喰べ物の好みが変ってきた。牛鍋がだめ、かばやきがだめ、そのほか魚類でも砂糖と醤油で濃く煮たのはだめだし、海老などは伊勢海老からまきまで、てんでうけつけなくなった。およそ十年くらいまえまでは、三日と牛鍋を喰べないことはなかったし、翌日その残りの鍋底に舌鼓を打ったものであった。それがいまは考えるだけで胸がつかえてくる。この夏さるところで外泊した翌朝、――こういう場合には例外なく若い友人たちと飲みつぶれたあとであり、その友人たちといっしょに泊るのであるが、――私が牛鍋を嫌うようになったのは、もっぱら心理的誘因が他にあるので、喰べてみれば喰べられないわけがない、と友人たちが断言するので、それではということになった。あとで考えれば若いかれらが喰べたかったのだ。前夜の酒で減衰した精力を恢復させるためには、いちばん手っ取り早い喰べ物だからである。
