Read a sample in Japaneseポストのところまで歩いて行くと、彼はポケットから手紙を取り出した。そして何だか変だとは思いながら、ポストの口へ入れていったが、指を離した瞬間、はっと気がついて顔を歪めた。切手がまだ貼ってなかったのだ。馬鹿。あの手紙を受け取る里の親達はさぞ、馬鹿と彼のことを言うだろう。結婚して半年、まだ職に就けない彼なのだ。そして今日も職のことで先輩を訪ねなければならない日だった。苛々しながら、ぼんやりしていた。自動車や電車に轢かれる人の大部分は、金の心配をして歩いている人間だ――と誰かが言った。気をつけなければいけなかった。今日も職のことはすらりと駄目になったが、その代わり、君の細君へ届けてくださいと、先輩は鮎の佃煮を彼に渡した。その包みを左手に持って電車に乗ったのだが、夕刊を読むために網棚にその包みを放った。そして一駅乗り過ごして慌てて降りた時、左手には新聞だけ持っていた。
